In October 2009 I started an arts practice led, interdisciplinary PhD at the University of the Highlands and Islands, with the University of Aberdeen. The PhD is sponsored by the Forestry Commission, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the UHI. Drawing on art, human geography and anthropology in particular, and with a fieldwork element feeding into my arts practice, the PhD is entitled, In the forest, field and studio: art/ making/ methodology in explorations of familiarity and unfamiliarity, in some forests and landscapes of the North of Scotland.

The PhD is multi-faceted and will contain words, sounds, and images, with each element feeding into the whole.
This folder contains some of the videos and audio pieces made in the course of the PhD which will feed into its themes, and will tie in to accompanying essays.
Many of the videos and sound pieces are best listened to using headphones.
